The Snobbish Dealer Locked My Engine Line—Until My Forensic Audit Repossessed His Entire Dealership Network At Dawn!
Chapter 5 - The Corporate Execution
The screen of my tablet flared with an urgent notification from the International Chamber of Commerce Arbitration Tribunal in Geneva.
ORDER FOR SUMMARY ASSET SEQUESTRATION: ALL VANCE LOGISTICS SHARES IN VANGUARD POWERTRAIN TRANSFERRED TO PRIMARY TRUSTEE ZACHARY DRAKE.
Sarah clapped her hands together, a breathless laugh breaking across her face. "The arbitration ruling cleared, Zachary! The entire twenty-two percent Vance held in our powertrain patents has been voided for cause!"
On the floor, Marcus Vance let out a ragged, strangled sob as the marshals hoisted him to his feet.
His custom suit was ruined, stained with oil and dirt, his hair disheveled, the proud patriarch reduced to a shattered white-collar convict.
"You took everything," Marcus whispered, his eyes glazed with defeat as he looked at the gleaming V16 prototype on the test stand. "Every single asset we built over forty years."
"You built it on stolen government code and counterfeit customer tunes, Marcus," I said, wiping my hands on a clean shop towel. "You were just an unlicensed middleman who thought having money meant you understood the machine."
The marshals guided Marcus out into the rain, loading him into the caged rear compartment of an unmarked Suburban.
The heavy steel doors slammed shut with a final, echoing thud that resonated across the hangar.
The red and blue emergency strobes gradually faded into the Detroit mist, leaving our testing bay completely quiet except for the low hum of the dyno coolant pumps.
Victoria Chen walked in through the side bay door, shaking rainwater from her trench coat, carrying a fresh cardboard tray of black coffees.
"The Romulus warehouse has been secured by state troopers," Victoria reported with a satisfied smile. "All forty crate engines are accounted for. The Apex executive board just approved our direct-to-consumer delivery model with zero dealer markups."
"And the showroom staff?" I asked, taking a hot cup from the tray.
"Every technician, mechanic, and service writer is officially on Vanguard’s direct payroll as of midnight," Victoria said. "Full union scale, company health coverage, and zero illegal firmware modifications."
I walked over to the dyno console, picking up the digital torque wrench from the workbench.
I climbed onto the dyno platform, adjusted the fuel rail mounting bolts on the prototype engine, and pulled the calibration lever.
A satisfying, crisp *click* echoed through the bay.
Forty-five Newton-meters. Perfect tolerance.
I turned back to Sarah at the telemetry terminal.
"Initialize the fuel pressure loop, Sarah," I said, putting my ear protection back on. "Let's run the full-throttle endurance map."
Sarah smiled, her fingers dancing across the mechanical keyboard. "Ignition sequence armed in three, two, one..."
