The Developer Tried Demolishing My Sovereign Skyline—Until Page 99 Seized His Offshore Private Island At Noon!
Chapter 4 - The Offshore Margin Call
The screen of Julian’s phone illuminated his shaking fingers: CITIBANK ZURICH // MARGIN CALL ACCELERATION NOTICE.
"Julian," Victor hissed, grabbing his son by the front of his shearling coat. "What did you do?!"
"Father... the margin line on the logistics fleet," Julian stammered, his voice climbing into a terrified squeak. "To secure the transport vessels from Rotterdam, I had to cross-collateralize our secondary liquidity reserves."
"Which reserves, Julian?" I asked, stepping up to the side of the Black Hawk helicopter.
Arthur Bradley walked out from the glass atrium, holding an updated forensic balance sheet.
"The reserves tied to Vance Island Holdings in the Bahamas," Arthur stated, his voice ringing across the windy plaza. "A private four-hundred-acre offshore sanctuary valued at one hundred and twenty million dollars."
Victor let go of Julian's coat, staggering backward until his spine struck the reinforced steel bumper of his armored Maybach.
"No," Victor whispered, his breathing turning ragged. "That island is held in a generation-skipping dynasty trust. It is immune to domestic creditor attachment!"
"It was immune to domestic creditors, Victor," I said, pulling an authenticated court docket from my tablet sleeve. "Until your son signed a personal indemnification rider using the Sterling Zenith ground lease as secondary collateral."
"You idiot!" Victor screamed, swinging his silver cane and striking Julian across the shoulder with a sickening crack. "You pledged our sovereign retreat to back an illegal lithium shipment?!"
Julian dropped to his knees on the concrete, clutching his arm, tears of pure shock and pain streaming down his cheeks.
"You told me the shipment couldn't fail!" Julian wailed from the dirt. "You said Logan was just a field engineer who didn't understand international banking!"
"I don't need to understand international banking, Julian," I said, looking down at him. "I just need to understand load-bearing math. You overloaded the sub-level six foundations because thirty thousand tons of lithium carbonate weighs four times more than the architectural load spec."
Agent Miller signaled the two federal marshals flanking the van.
"Victor Vance, Julian Vance," Miller commanded. "You are hereby placed under federal arrest for conspiracy to violate the Strategic Commodities Act, systemic customs fraud, and aggravated grand larceny."
Click. Snap.
The metallic bite of the heavy steel handcuffs echoed across the concrete plaza.
Victor's proud, aristocratic posture completely collapsed. He hung his head, his silver hair falling across his forehead, his custom coat smeared with road salt and construction dust as the agents turned him toward the waiting transport van.
As the heavy steel doors slammed shut, sealing both men inside, Evelyn Montgomery stepped up to my side, offering a pen and a certified county conveyance deed.
"The ground lease is formally declared void for criminal co-mingling, Logan," Evelyn said softly. "The land, the tower, and the sub-basement vaults revert entirely to the Logan Vance Living Trust."
"Thank you, Evelyn," I said, signing the transfer line with a steady hand.
Just as I handed the parchment back, Marcus Brody ran up from the service entrance, holding an unsealed, blood-stained leather dispatch pouch he had just retrieved from the underground vault.
