My Husband Tried Buying His Mistress A $200k Diamond Necklace—Until His Black Card Declined Three Times And My Process Server Walked In
Chapter 3 - The Digital Paper Trail
Liam sprinted toward the glass entrance, but Julian stepped smoothly into his path, blocking the exit with his broad frame.
"Step aside, Chen!" Liam bellowed, his voice cracking with pure rage. "You work for my family!"
"I work for the Montgomery Trust, Liam," Julian said, his eyes hard as flint. "And the trust just authorized the complete forensic mirror of your local workstation."
Through the phone in Julian’s hand, my voice cut through the tense air once more.
"You should really check your secondary iCloud drive, Liam," I said smoothly.
Liam went entirely rigid.
His fingers curled into tight, trembling fists.
"What did you touch, Vivian?" he whispered, his tone dropping into a dangerous, icy register.
"I didn't touch anything," I replied. "My forensic team did. We found the offshore sub-ledger you created under the name 'Apex Horizon Consulting.'"
Chloe gasped, taking another step back until her shoulders hit the velvet wall paneling.
"Apex Horizon?" she stammered, looking between Liam and the officers. "Liam... that's the LLC you used to wire my signing bonus."
"Shut your mouth, Chloe!" Liam screamed, spinning on her with bared teeth.
"No, let her speak," I interjected through the speaker. "Tell her how Apex Horizon wasn't funded by partner profits, Liam. Tell her it was funded by siphoning capital from our daughters' medical trust fund."
The showroom went dead silent.
Even the silver-haired sales director looked at Liam with undisguised disgust.
"You took money from Maya and Lily's accounts?" Chloe whispered, her eyes wide with horrified realization. "You told me that was offshore liquidity from an institutional client in Singapore!"
"It was an internal loan!" Liam shouted, his face turning an ugly shade of plum. "I was going to replenish it after the Series B closing! It's standard portfolio management!"
"It’s wire fraud and grand larceny under federal banking statutes," Julian said, pulling a second, thicker binder from his leather messenger bag.
He flipped the binder open, revealing fifty pages of highlighted bank statements.
"Every wire has your digital biometric signature, Liam," Julian continued, tapping the documents with a gold-plated pen. "Every single transfer occurred between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. from your home office terminal."
Liam stared at the papers, his chest heaving as if he had just run a marathon.
Then, his eyes narrowed, settling on Julian with cold, venomous malice.
"You think you're clever, Vivian," Liam muttered into the phone, ignoring the crowd around him. "You think you've got me boxed in. But you forgot who holds the physical contracts for the Stamford logistics hub."
