The Suitcase Full of Schoolbooks
Chapter 1 - No holiday clothes
A suitcase stood unclaimed near the airport bus stop. Airport staff brought it to the lost property office, where Leila worked after years as a cleaner. Inside were schoolbooks, notebooks and a small sweater, all carefully wrapped against rain.
The name on the luggage tag was smudged. One exercise book contained a teacher's email address. Leila contacted the school without sharing the child's work publicly.
The teacher explained that the family had recently moved. Their luggage had been separated during a confusing journey. She would ask the parent to contact the airport and identify the case.
Leila kept the books together. A colleague joked that nobody would steal homework. She said that did not make losing it harmless.
