The Shop That Accepted Broken Promises
Chapter 3 - The repair that lasted
Jo collected the radio with a new power cable and a note explaining its limitations. Felix would not call it restored; some damage remained, and she needed to keep it away from moisture.
She put it in her kitchen. Rather than completing her father's entire list, she chose the museum, a place she genuinely wanted to see. She invited her son and stayed until both were tired.
Felix took the train to his daughter's home. They did not plan anything impressive. He helped assemble a shelf, ate lunch and listened while she described her week.
On Monday he changed the shop's sign to show Saturday closures once a month. A customer complained, then asked whether he could book another day. Felix said yes.
The radio returned six months later for a small adjustment. Jo brought a museum postcard. Felix placed it by his calendar, where he would see it before accepting another weekend appointment.
